polls!

We're still wayy behind in the polls, but isn't it beautiful outside? It's been a wonderful day in the hospital, full of all the things that keep me here and happy! It started off with the cheeriest patient visit, followed by a number of fun conversations with women who are calling to tell me they are finally pregnant and are thrilled and want to schedule their ultrasound... right...now (in the most lovely of ways). And our lunch meeting regarding residency choices was full of other future ob/gyns that were so helpful and non-competitive and just, well, NICE! And, it's Friday, and, I have the WHOLE WEEKEND OFF! And, David and I will be working on the roof all day tomorrow and partly on Sunday... unless I go climbing Sunday. I haven't been climbing yet all Spring... and it's supposed to be 71 and sunny, and Elyse is going to Moore's. I think I'm going to go climb... it will help keep my mind off of the contest all day Sunday!!

PS--David and I and the contest were featured in our student newspaper today -- LOOK!

Data Entry

Today is a day of data entry... I wish I could send you a picture of my office, coded questionnaires are taped up everywhere, because, if memorized, it's easier to enter. I'm turning 155 8 page questionnaires into numerical data... it is time consuming and boring, but just difficult enough to keep you from being able to do anything else... exactly what I imagined cubicle work to be like... oh well, I guess that's the down side of clinical research :( The reward will be worth it! I'm trying to stay focused and ignore facebook and email and thenotwedding.blogspot.com polls! Love, Kirby

Polls!

We're doing a little bit better in the polls today! Thanks everybody! I never imagined that over 2000 people would vote for us! Two Thousand!!! Wow!

A few more pictures of us and some thoughts about this whole thing

this is me bouldering in linville gorge, i spashed in shortly after!

We were visiting our friends Richard and Molly and their son Walker for some eco-tourism. Richard and Molly run an organic farm outside of Asheveille, Maple Creek Farms on Lickskillet Rd. Well, it was a cold and rainy night and we'd headed into town to hear some bluegrass, but when we showed up, it was $15/ticket and everyone was just sitting in chairs listening to the music without moving a muscle. We'd promised Walker we were going to a party, and at $15/head and no dancin, it wasn't the kinda party we were hoping for. We bailed and on the way back through Burnsville, saw a sign for Saturday Night Roller Skating and pulled in. Ohmigoodness, I'd forgotton how much fun it is to be on eight wheels!

This is our paridise outside of Boone, NC

David and Greyson, she's 11 now and our baby

So as I'm reading the blogs of all the people we're competing against, I'm like, woah, these are just awesome people, I want to be friends with them! Notwedding, how about we just have a party for all of us to get to hang out? Well... ok, and still maybe get the free wedding thing. Anyway, I thought I'd add a few more pictures. David and I fell in love in the out of doors. I first knew I loved him when we were camping in our paridise outside of Boone, NC. I was just captivated by his knowledge of the trees and the plants we were living in, and the way he moves in the woods. His respect of nature is inspiring to me. And, he really does something about it. For the past 3 years, he has been heavily volunteering his time with the Green Building Council, hoping to change the way Americans live by changing the way we build our homes. I love him, and I love what he does!
